Coronavirus Death Count Rises Past 2500 in Italy

More than 2500 people have died in Italy of coronavirus after the latest readings in the last 24 hours. 345 new coronavirus deaths in the country over the last 24 hours taking its total death toll to 2,503 - an increase of 16 percent.

Globally, the virus has infected 203,612 people and killed just over 8,229 according to the Worldometer. 82,866 people have recovered from the infection, according to data collected byWorldometer.

 

Earlier the World Health Organisation had already termed Coronavirus as "pandemic' after the virus spread across all over the world. The total number of cases in Italy has risen from 27,980 to 31,506 showing a rise by 12.6 percent.


 

Italy is next to China in terms of fatalities while its mortality rate stands at 7.9 percent, about eight times higher than in South Korea. China has over 80000 confirmed Coronavirus cases, while neighboring countries India has 137 cases as of now as per Al Jazeera. Saudi Arabia has 171 confirmed cases as per Al Jazeera's current reading. 

Meanwhile, the whole world is yet to come to terms with the virus being pandemic. The World Health Organization (WHO) has described the coronavirus pandemic as the"defining global health crisis of our time", and urged countries to test all suspected cases of COVID-19.

China was the first country to be affected by Coronavirus back in November 2019. Slowly the virus spread all over the world with Italy being affected the most after China.

Meanwhile, scientists claim that signs of coronavirus first originated in bats and then moved onto the other animals and eventually to human beings. Doctors and Scientists are trying to track the virus back to where it originated to know more about it. The Wuhan market area of China was the first place to be affected by coronavirus in the country.
