Plane ‘shaking like washing machine’ turns back

Passengers of an AirAsia flight from Australia to Malaysia Sunday say they felt their plane was a “washing machine” when it started shaking 90 minutes after they took off prompting the pilot to turn around for an emergency landing.

The Airbus A330 landed safely at Perth Airport as the pilot told authorities they encountered a technical problem.

Passengers first heard a bang before the plane started “shuddering”, according to a report of an Australian paper.

“It was literally like you were sitting on top of a washing machine. The whole thing was going. We could see the engine out the window which was really shaking on the wing. Once we landed we realised one of the blades had actually come off the turbine,” passenger Brenton Atkinson was quoted as saying by Australian Broadcasting Corp.
