US and Iran Agree to Two-Week Ceasefire

Iran accepted a two-week military ceasefire today. US President Donald Trump suspended American attacks first. He demanded that Tehran reopen the Strait of Hormuz completely. Negotiators will meet this Friday in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Securing the Waterway

The Iranian foreign minister confirmed the new waterway agreement. Commercial ships can safely pass through the strait for two weeks. The Iranian armed forces will coordinate this maritime traffic.

Pakistan Mediates the Deal

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif successfully mediated this temporary truce. He actively asked Trump to extend the negotiation deadline. He also urged Iranian leaders to reopen the critical strait immediately.

Israel Responds to Truce

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu supports Trump regarding this pause. However, Netanyahu clarified a crucial regional detail today. This specific ceasefire strictly excludes the ongoing conflict in Lebanon.
