US-Iran War Escalates As Yemen Reports 950 Houthi Fighters Killed

The Pressure Point Remains Hormuz

The Strait of Hormuz remains the absolute pressure point of the ongoing war. A crude oil tanker suffered a projectile strike while heading out of the strait. UKMTO confirmed the attack occurred on Sunday in the highly strategic waterway. IRGC chief Ahmad Vahidi warned that no foreign power holds rights to interfere there. The prolonged closure weighs incredibly heavily on the entire regional economy currently. The IMF slashed its 2026 forecast for the Middle East to a 0.3 percent contraction. Meanwhile, Tehran vehemently denies British claims it orchestrated a plot targeting RAF Fairford. The Houthis also claimed they fired a ballistic missile directly at Riyadh’s airport.

Airlines Respond To Escalating Threats

Etihad Airways cancelled all flights between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh until October 19. The airline warned that the situation remains fluid and further schedule changes remain possible. They also cancelled selected services between Abu Dhabi, Dammam, and Jeddah this week. In Yemen, internationally recognised government forces executed a massive offensive against Houthi positions. Military spokesperson Col. Majeed al-Nuzaili stated operations killed 950 Houthi fighters recently. He added the forces destroyed or disabled 380 military vehicles during the ongoing campaign. The operations aggressively targeted Houthi positions, command centers, and massive weapons depots. Government forces pressed their offensive aimed at retaking territory, including the capital, Sanaa.

Diplomatic Denials In Europe

In Europe, Iran challenged Britain to produce hard evidence linking Tehran to the Fairford plot. They rejected Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s assessment that the IRGC directed the operation. Iran’s Foreign Ministry called the serious allegations completely unfounded and diversionary. They accused London of making claims without presenting any supporting evidence publicly. In Iran, a forgotten southeast front erupted, resulting in 94 deaths recently. Armed attacks intensified aggressively in Sistan and Baluchestan province near the Pakistan border.
