AFP quoted the US military as saying it had also intercepted several Iranian missiles and drones fired across the Gulf respectively, and conducted self-defence strikes on Qeshm Island in Iran.
Key Developments

The US military had confirmed it retaliated in self defence against strikes from Qeshm Island, located at the strategically vital mouth of the Strait of Hormuz.
The strikes targeted:
-
Iranian military ground control station.
-
Sites believed to be linked to attacks in recent days.
Strategic Importance of Qeshm Island
-
Qeshm Island is located in the Strait of Hormuz — the global oil and gas shipping choke point.

No US Casualties Reported
Centcom confirmed that:
No US forces were hurt in the operations.
