Washington: Trump’s Tweets May Result In His Downfall

Amid speculations that the Senate is looking at an investigation on Trump that stems from the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election, President Trump may be in trouble due to the rash tweet series against Republican senators of late.

Majority of the 11 Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee are in a tussle with President Trump as seen through the latest series of Tweets on Thursday morning. Given that these Republicans will be central in any procedures involved in the removal of Trump from office, maybe the US president should consider maintaining a low-key profile on social media, at least on this subject.

Trump called Senator Lindsey Graham in his tweet a publicity seeker and also added that he hasn’t forgotten his defeat in 2016 presidential elections. He even called Senator Jeff Flake toxic and a non-factor in the Senate. Seeing the unfiltered tweets based on the opinions of the US president, Chairman Chuck Grassley has expressed his concerns to Trump and has asked him to tone it down.

With recent reports that there is serious discussion going on in Congress about impeaching President Trump, his recent Twitter bashing might be the reason he finds himself friendless during these proceeding. However, Grassley claims that the Senate will be an unbiased jury.
