Court orders ministry to pay teacher gratuity

The administrative court has rejected a case filed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to deny a retired Qatari teacher the end of service gratuity for the years of service that exceeded 20 years.

Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported on Tuesday that the court ordered the Ministry to pay her the equivalent of two months salary for each year of her work service that exceeded 20 years.
The court established the right of the teacher based on the laws and regulations concerned. The teacher was issued the same decision earlier by the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority Committee for the review of disputes. However, the ministry opted to approach the court to appeal the decision.
