Expensive things bought by Qataris

Qatar is currently the richest country in the world in terms of per capita income, however, things were not always like that. In just 50 years, Qatar went from a poor country largely dependent on fishing and pearl extraction from the ocean to one of the fastest developing countries in the world. The economy of Qatar has evolved at lightning speed, bringing in billions of dollars of revenue to the state and the citizens alike, thanks to the energy sector which contributes 60% to the GDP of the country.

What do rich people do with their money? They buy things and the one thing that all rich people buy is cars, fast and expensive cars, paintings, real estate, jewellery, and other expensive exotic things. Today we will list the expensive things that Qataris have spent money on: 

1 The Card Players:

Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani led Qatar Museums Authority acquired a Paul Cézanne painting known as The Card Players for more than $250 million in 2012, thereby getting the most post-Impressionist masterpiece into the country’s art-collection. Pablo Picasso had famously called Cézanne as ‘the father of us all’.
