Another strong earthquake strikes Philippines

An earthquake of 6.5 magnitude struck the island of Samar in the Philippines on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said. 

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

The main Philippines island of Luzon has been struck by a powerful earthquake, taking the lives of at least 11 people.

Measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale, the earthquake hit the island around 5.11 PM local time on Monday, local authorities said.

The resulting damage includes a badly damaged Clark airport and two buildings which completely collapsed.

According to local authorities, several people remain trapped under a collapsed building in Pampanga, north-west of capital city Manila, where the earthquake resulted in skyscrapers swaying for a short while.
