Bengaluru: Cauvery Chairman Caught Demanding Bribe For Job

The Chairman of the state-run traditional arts and handicrafts store, Cauvery Handicrafts Emporium, Kamalamma Magadi is accused of asking for a bribe for giving a job to a KSHDCL employee’s son on compassionate grounds. The employee union approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau to investigate the matter, as the chairman insinuated that her life was under threat by Bhagyamma, the temporary employee.

Kamalamma Magadi accused Bhagyamma, of trying to poison her by offering sweets mixed with sedatives. However, this complaint came a day after she was made aware of the CD that holds evidence of her crime. The CD contains the conversation between the two in which she allegedly asked for a bribe.

According to Bhagyamma, she took the sweets to the Chairman since her son got a job in place of his father in June after he tragically died. However, the Chairman demanded a bribe of Rupees One Lakh and the failure to pay up would result in the termination of her job and the transfer of her son.

On failing to pay the bribe, her son was actually transferred to Bidar, and she was fired.
