Chinese Man Narrowly Escapes After Safety Cord Snaps On 500-Foot Bridge, Theme Park Shuts Down

A Chinese tourist narrowly escaped death after a safety cord broke while he was crossing a high altitude bridge at a theme park in China.

The incident took place on China’s National Day Golden Week holiday,  and it went viral after it was posted on the video-sharing platform Douyin.

The man appears calm throughout, turning around and smiling after reaching the other side, only to realize that the safety harness was loose!

According to a report in South China Morning Post, there was no safety net beneath the bridge, which was suspended over a sheer drop of 152 metres (500 feet) onto the rocks below.

According to the Shanghaiist, the social media anger following the incident forced the theme park to release a statement saying that the accident was caused by the management.

The theme park has been shut down for the time being.
