Indian expatriates in the UAE are closely monitoring a significant legal development regarding their essential consular services. The Delhi High Court has officially quashed the technical evaluation that originally awarded Alhind Tours and Travels LLC the contract to run Indian passport, visa, and attestation services in the Emirates.
The judicial decision introduces a new layer of complexity to an already delayed transition process. Alhind was initially scheduled to launch its Indian Consular Application Centres on July 1, but ongoing litigation forced diplomatic missions to handle the heavy volume of applications directly.
Uncertainty for Future Operations
According to the court's judgment, the question of who will permanently manage the service centers remains open. The court indicated that the incumbent providers, BLS International and SGIVS Global Services, may be temporarily permitted to continue providing consular services while a retendering process is evaluated.
For the thousands of Indian nationals living and working in the UAE, this legal battle highlights the importance of reliable, uninterrupted bureaucratic infrastructure. The community hopes for a swift resolution to ensure smooth and efficient document processing moving forward.
