Doklam Standoff Ends After 71 Days

The Doklam standoff that lasted 71 days finally ended this Monday, and both the sides have withdrawn their troops from Doklam.

According to News18, India made it very clear that if the Doklam standoff was not resolved, the Indian Prime Minister would not go for BRICS. Even if one out of the five heads of the governments don’t party in BRICS the summit would not be held.

India offered a situation that works for China as well. Given that India had earlier boycotted the BRI Forum, and would very easily boycott BRICS, China wouldn’t risk losing face again and perhaps the settlement has rooted out of this learning.
