Imran Khan launches programme for overseas Pakistani workers

The programme is aimed at developing social protection for workers.

Marking Labour Day, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday introduced 'Mazdoor-Ka-Ehsaas' initiative.

In his message while making the announcement, he said, "It is one of the pillars under the government's priority social protection and poverty alleviation programme."

The programme is aimed at developing social protection for workers, Tribune reported.

Under the Ehsaas initiative, PM Imran Khan highlighted the policies designed for overseas Pakistani workers.

The programme will enhance the number and quality of institutional arrangements that are responsible for protecting migrant workers. "Creating online interfaces to facilitate them, negotiations with host countries aimed at increasing the duration of the first contract of migrant workers and subsidies on air tickets for the workers who haven't returned home for seven years," are all the initiatives under 'Mazdoor-Ka-Ehsaas,' the report said.
