India's efforts to end the military standoff with China diplomatically have hit a dead end yet again. China demands that India should withdraw its troops from Doklam plateau claimed by Beijing and Indian ally Bhutan.
According to a source close to PM Modi’s government, India expected China to move its troops back by 250 meters in return, which China failed to respond to. China's Foreign Ministry has claimed that the nation refuses to let go of any territory.
Indian troops were deployed at Doklam in June to hold off a Chinese construction crew from constructing a road extension since the Indian military anticipates China's army getting to too to the northeast region of India.
As reported by Global Times on Tuesday, China has held off a war against India hoping that New Delhi will find a reasonable conclusion in this chaos.
In spite of the rising trade between the growing economies, this border crisis has definitely dulled their relationship. India is concerned about China's ties with its rival Pakistan and their trade corridor across Kashmir.
At a summit in May, PM Modi refused to align with President Xi Jinping's by not signing the Belt and Road initiative to merge Asia. India was the only country at the summit to have refused the initiative.
China has sent out clear warnings to New Delhi and suggested that India shouldn’t be a part of the Western military alliance led by the US, including Japan. However, PM Modi has initiated better ties with the two powerful economies.
