Jammu: Ceasefire Violation By Pakistan Army Kills Woman

According to officials, a ceasefire violation by Pakistan army at the Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch (J&K), killed a 45-year-old woman. Some villages close to the border are inhabited by civilians.

 

 
According to a defense spokesman, the Pakistani army started a firing of small arms, automatic weapons, and mortars in Poonch sector of the LoC. The firing was completely unprovoked and shocking, however, the Indian Army personnel guarding the border posts retaliated fiercely. The firing stopped from both ends at 6:45 in the morning.
 
A police officer reported that mortar shells were fired by the Pakistan army which exploded near a house at Gohlad Kalran village when Mohd. Shabir’s 45-year-old wife died.
 
Earlier on 8th August, Sepoy Pawan Singh Sugra (21-years-old) died in another ceasefire violation in the Krishnagati sector of Poonch. Up until 1st August this year, there have been as many as 285 ceasefire violations by the Pakistan army, while in 2016 the number was way lesser at 228.
