Kabul's car bomb blast: 24 killed, several injured

An early morning car bomb explosion killed at least 24 people and left several injured in Afghanistan's Kabul city.

The blast occurred in Qala-e-shada locality after a suicide bomber detonated a car bomb in western Kabul on Monday.

As per reports, Mohammad Mohaqiq's residence, who is deputy to Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah was the target.

 

Western Kabul, the hotbed for such attacks?

The attack which took place in western Kabul city, is the home to several prominent political leaders, such as Hazara leader Mohammad Mohaqiq.

The place has been under scrutiny as it has been the scene of several attacks which includes suicide attack that killed prominent Shiite Muslim cleric Ramazan Hussainzada last month.

No group including Taliban has claimed responsibility for the blast yet.

It is not just today's car bomb explosion that rocked Kabul but the city has of late been witnessing such suicide bombings.

In June, a suicide bombing struck Kabul's diplomatic quarter which left over dozens dead.

What was worse, that the attack came during Ramzan, which is a holy time for the Muslims.
