Mumbai Rain: Doctor Went Missing, Body Found At Seashore In Worli

Mumbai was pounded by intense torrential rains on 29 August throughout the day and the city was under a 298 mm downpour which is the highest record in a day since August 1997.

 

A renowned gastroenterologist of the Bombay Hospital was reported missing when Mumbai was hit by massive rains. Deepak Amarapurkar (58-years-old) was seen last near the Elphinstone Road station, where his driver dropped him off due to water-log on the roads. From there he started to walk back home, as per the officials. His body was found at the seashore in Worli.

According to eyewitnesses, the doctor was seen falling into a manhole and the police discovered his umbrella at the spot. A search party was sent out with the help of the fire brigade and a personnel from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation after the missing report was filed.
