Pakistan thanks Qatar for support

Islamabad has heaped lavish praise on Qatar for announcing a $3 billion support for Pakistan’s economy.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday made a telephone call to the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani to express his gratitude for the directives to support Pakistan’s economy with $3 billion in deposits and investments. In the call, the Pakistani PM said the Amir’s visit to Pakistan and the financial support reflect the deep-rooted relations between the two countries.

For his part, the Amir expressed thanks and appreciation for the warm hospitality accorded to him during his recent visit to Pakistan.

Earlier in the day, Advisor to Pakistan’s Prime Minister on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh expressed his gratitude to the Amir for announcing $3 billion in deposits and direct investments in Pakistan.

“(I) want to thank the Amir of Qatar HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad al Thani for announcing $3 billion in deposits and direct investments for Pakistan and for Qatar’s affirmation to further develop relations between the two countries,” the Pakistani official was quoted as saying by Associated Press.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani said the Qatari support comes following the directives of the Amir.
