Two Dead As Delhi's High Garbage Pile Collapses Due To Rain

The heavy rain caused the Ghazipur landfill in east Delhi to crumble and sweep away seven people towards the Kondli drain and killed two of these people.

 

The three giant garbage heaps; Bhalswa (northwest), Okhla (southeast), and Ghazipur (east) landfills constitute of 150 acres of land. More than 10,000 tons of garbage is added to the heaps on a daily basis and the heaps tower as high as 50 meters each, equivalent to a 150-storey building.
 
The city's ruling AAP accused the BJP-run MCDs and the land-owning body DDA, for the garbage pile avalanche.
