In a video that has gone viral over social media in the last few days, an Indian bride slaps a wedding guest who tries to lift her, without her consent, during jaimala ceremony (garland exchange ritual in Hindu weddings).
The viral video shows a couple getting ready to exchange garlands on the wedding stage, when the groom gets lifted by his friends.
As the bride tries to reach out to her husband-to-be, a man jumps out of nowhere and lifts her to complete the ritual.
As soon as the varmala gets over, the bride turns around and hands a tight slap to the man who offered unsolicited assistance to lift her.
She then apparently accuses her of inappropriately touching her under the pretext of helping her reach groom’s height.
The already tense situation gets worse when the embarrassed man then turns over to another woman standing on the stage and slaps her.
