VIP Helicopter Lands On Stadium And Disrupts Indian Athletes Completely

Prioritizing Politics Over Practice

Athletes training at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Gurgaon faced a massive disruption. They missed their regular athletic practice for four consecutive days this week. Security officials parked Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s official helicopter on the ground. The athletes finally regained access to the running track on Wednesday. The helicopter took Saini back to Chandigarh following his trip to Singapore. The incident renewed deep concerns among dedicated athletes and local sports coaches. They strongly protest the repeated use of the sports facility for VIP transport. Athletes state the helicopter parks at the stadium nearly every single month.

Shutting Down The Track

Other facilities, including the basketball and volleyball courts, remained accessible to the public. However, strict security protocols required closing the inner synthetic ground and running track. "Losing one or two days of practice is a significant loss," an athlete explained. Dedicated competitors train continuously and cannot afford these sudden, massive scheduling interruptions. A parent said children traveled from across Gurgaon only to find the track closed. A frustrated coach demanded the government identify a separate location for helicopter parking. Officials claim the stadium remains a highly convenient option for VIP travel. Gurgaon does not currently possess a dedicated state or civil aviation helipad.

Awaiting A Dedicated Heli-Hub

Parking the helicopter at a commercial airport in Delhi incurs significant financial charges. The Haryana government allocated 25 acres in Global City for a heli-hub previously. However, they have not begun construction on that vital infrastructure project yet. Saini’s media adviser blamed the recent extended parking on a sudden machinery glitch. He denied they keep the helicopter at the stadium as a permanent standby measure. Sports facilities must prioritize the development of local athletes above all else.
