6-month-old struggles to live after mother flings baby into fire

A six-month-old infant suffered over 90 per cent burns and is fighting for her life at the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.

The toddler's mother allegedly tried to burn the baby in the slums of Bhubaneswar in a fit of anger.

According to details in the Hindustan Times, the mother soaked a cloth in kerosene and set it on fire. She then put the baby in the burning cloth.

The baby was rescued after neighbours heard the baby cry and rushed to help.

The mother is said to be mentally ill, the police said.
