There are no restrictions on the future son-in-law's nationality.
A multi-millionaire father in Thailand is offering £240,000 (over Dh1 million approx) as well as his entire estate to the man who marries his 26-year-old daughter. Arnon Rodthong, 58, owns a prosperous durian fruit farm in Chumphon province, southern Thailand, and came up with the bizarre idea to find a groom faster for his daughter Karnsita.
Rodthong explained on social media that his daughter put love on the back-burner as she was helping him run the family business. Highlighting his daughter speaks fluent English and Chinese and is a virgin, the wealthy father said his future son-in-law will get ten million Thai baht (£240,000), as well as his sprawling durian farm, valued at several million pounds.
While in some parts of Thailand, according to custom a man should pay a dowry for his future wife, but Rodthong said he is ready to waive this 'fee'. He also stressed that there was no restrictions on the future son-in-law's nationality but added that he should 'work hard and make Karnsita happy'. "I want someone to take care of my business and make it last. I don't want a person with a bachelor's, or master's or philosopher's degree. I want a diligent man. I just want someone with a hard-working attitude. That's all," Rodthong was quoted as saying in Daily Mail.
The millionaire father has other children of his own, including sons who would traditionally inherit the business. "As soon as I have an in-law, I will give up all my assets to him," Rodthong said whose durian farm processes some 50 tonnes of the fruit every day, and is the biggest in the region.
Since the offer on social media, Rodthong and his daughter have had plenty of responses. While Karnsita is overwhelmed with the attention from her father's post and confirmed that she is 'still single'. "I first found out about my father's post when my friend's showed me. I was surprised but I can see the funny side to it, too. It is true that I am still single. If I have to get married with someone, I only want him to be a diligent and good person who loves his family," said Karnsita.
