Wanda Nara: “Mauro Icardi Didn’t Cry When Our Children Were Born But Has For Inter”

Wanda Nara was part of a long interview in Gazzetta dello Sport’s weekly magazine called ‘Fuorigioco’ and here are some of the extracts from that interview.

On social media: “Mauro likes to keep it low profile and likes to keep it mostly related to football, but I enjoy posting so many different things, especially with the children.”

The offer of De Laurentiis to move to Napoli: “It is true, he offered me a role in a film. He knows that I have acted and everybody knows me in Argentina, but that proposal was not linked with Mauro’s move to Napoli.”

On her job as an agent: “Yes, it has created a few problems for me because it is almost exclusively a male-dominant environment, and it makes things even more difficult that I am my client’s wife. But Mauro is very good as he has given me unconditional trust and therefor has legitimized my role as his agent in the eyes of others. Although I have to say that working on a contract renewal while I was in my seventh month of pregnancy was not easy.”

On the children with Maxi Lopez: “Mauro has always treated them as his own children. Valentino has crazy discipline, he’s a kid but he already thinks like a professional, he’s careful about food, he only drinks water, and he forces me to film it in order to review his mistakes! The most talented one is Benedicto.”

On her spark with Mauro: “I met him through Maxi when he was 18. After the divorce, I had returned to live in Argentina and already enrolled the children in school. I had to return to Milan to sort out some bureaucratic problems and he offered to lend me his car. He asked me if I wanted to have lunch with him, but the fridge was empty, typical of a single 20 year old who always eats out. We had pasta with butter and a little bread, even though it was a little hardened! But he was a man who was very serious and acted very maturely. He always does what he says he will do, and I understood that he really loved the boys.”

On the wives and girlfriends of the Inter players: “We have a group and we try to help the new ones join in. We try to help them if they need any advice on homes, schools, or anything else. Eder’s wife is part of the group even though she’s on now on the other side of the world. Even the Croats all participate, although we’re all different and it may be easier communicate in your own language, we’re still a group. Once Argentina and Brazil were knocked out of the World Cup, we all cheered for Croatia.”

The champions: “We made a video with all the children who sent messages of support and encouragement to the fathers. I showed the video to Inter and to Spalletti, who liked it, but said that his daughter was missing in the video! But I don’t dare bother his wife by adding her to the group chat.”

On Lautaro Martinez: “He is already part of the family.”

On the autobiography: “I believe and hope we are past this now as it has been misinterpreted. Mauro really does bleed black and blue, he did not cry for the birth of the girls, but he cried for Inter.”
