Director Took No Fee As Low-Budget Film Nears Rs4 Billion Worldwide

A Massive Box-Office Surprise

Hanuman Ansh has turned into one of the biggest box-office surprises recently. The low-budget film crossed Rs3 billion in net collections across India. It is currently nearing the massive Rs4 billion worldwide revenue mark. Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, the spiritual drama focuses on Neem Karoli Baba. It collected Rs303.26 crore net in India alone so far. Its overseas gross has reached Rs37.75 crore during its extended run. The film continues its theatrical run in its impressive eighth week. It is currently the third-highest-grossing Indian film of the year.

Investing In A Vision

The changing dynamics of the Indian box office reward strong content. One striking aspect of the film's success is its unique production story. Chaturvedi did not charge a directing fee because of the limited budget. Instead, he became an equal equity partner alongside the three producers. Producer Anupriya Nagar personally invested Rs5 million into the film. The entire project was made for a little over Rs15 million total. The four partners will divide the profits equally after deductions and taxes. Nagar estimated she could make at least Rs500 million from her share.

A Long Journey To The Screen

This projection remains subject to pending OTT, satellite, and music deals. The rise of profit-sharing models changes how independent films secure funding. After a slow start, Hanuman Ansh gained massive momentum in subsequent weeks. Chaturvedi spent 14 years trying to bring this specific story to screens. He previously approached several major OTT platforms with the project unsuccessfully. Co-producers Ragini Sona and Namrata Singh backed his artistic vision early on. Spiritual and religious cinema holds enduring appeal for audiences across India. The team maintained absolute faith in his vision despite financial limitations.
