Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and Botswana President Doma Gideon Poku witnessed several cooperation agreements today. They signed these massive deals at Al-Baraka Palace in Muscat.

The agreements cover mineral exploration and petroleum storage facility development. The leaders also agreed to build a huge solar power plant.

Building a Perfect Model of Mutual Trust

Oman Investment Authority Chairman Abdul Salam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi praised the agreements. He said these new deals perfectly embody Omani economic diplomacy. These successes open doors for stronger strategic global relations. They establish quality partnerships abroad and attract foreign investments locally.

Al Murshidi called the Botswana relationship a perfect model of mutual trust. The two nations moved quickly from initial July 2025 meetings to massive investments.

Officials laid the foundation stones immediately after the signing ceremony today. Both countries plan to explore future projects in clean energy and mining. This opens fantastic opportunities for Omani companies to export products abroad.

OQ and Botswana Oil Enhance Fuel Security

Global energy group OQ and Botswana Oil signed a major agreement today. They will assess strategic cooperation to enhance regional fuel security. This deal complements their previous November 2025 investment cooperation agreement.

Both companies will evaluate a completely new integrated energy platform. This platform combines import solutions, coastal storage, and inland strategic stockpiles. This model will meet Botswana's long-term fuel needs very efficiently.

OQ brings extensive capabilities across the entire energy value chain. OQ Group CEO Ashraf bin Hamad Al Maamari celebrated the exciting new partnership. He expressed eagerness to evaluate scalable solutions for fuel security.

Botswana Oil Acting CEO Latelang Chakalisa called fuel security a top priority. He wants to leverage OQ's international expertise for integrated supply solutions.

Massive Investments in Solar Energy

O-Green and the Botswana Power Corporation signed a massive power purchase agreement. They plan to develop a 500-megawatt solar power plant in Maun. Advanced 500-megawatt battery energy storage systems will support this new plant.

The Maun project represents a massive shift towards actual commercial implementation. This project kicks off an expanded 3,000-megawatt energy cooperation framework. It ranks among the largest renewable energy investments in Botswana's history.

President Boko stressed the major strategic implications of these deals. He believes Botswana will quickly transform from an electricity importer into an exporter. O-Green CEO Mustafa bin Mohammed Al Hinai echoed this bold vision. The new station will double Botswana's current actual electricity generating capacity.

Joint Mineral Exploration Partnerships

Oman Mining Development Company and Botswana Exploration Investment Company also partnered up. They aim to explore and evaluate valuable mineral resources together. The partnership will eventually lead to a highly productive joint mine.

Both teams will enthusiastically exchange critical geological expertise and data. This cooperation strongly supports sustainable development and technical knowledge transfer.
