Nepal register thrilling 1 run win over Netherlands to level series

Nepal created a history by pulling off a one-run win against the hosts Netherlands in a nail-biting finish in their second ODI match in Amstelveen on Friday. Sompal Kami's crucial 61 off 46 balls and Sandeep Lamichhane's game-changing spell helped Nepal settle the score with Netherlands.

 

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Nepal posted a competitive 217-run target as they were bundled out in 48.5 overs. Despite a steady work with the bat after two quick wickets, Nepal's bowlilng attack towards the end restricted the hosts to 215 runs in the stipulated overs.

With two runs needed from two balls, Fred Klaassen was stumped by the skipper Khadka just as he was trying to take runs.

Nepal's leg spin prodigy Sandeep Lamichhane claimed three wickets in course of limiting the Netherlands to 215runs.

Binod Bhandari took two wickets while Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh Aairee, Basanta Regmi, Paras Khadka claimed one wicket each.

Wesley Barresi top-scored for the Dutch side, hitting 71 off 89 balls including eight boundaries before he was out for an lbw while Daniel ter Braak contributed 39 off 83 balls.

Similarly, skipper Pieter Seelaar made 21 runs off 32 balls and Ben Cooper made quick-fire 19 off 18 balls hitting four boundaries before he was caught by Rohit Kumar Paudel at slip off Binod Bhandari.

Likewise, Fred Klaassen managed 13 runs as the required runs were gradually ticked off. Shane Snater and Paul van Meekeren scored 12 runs each.

This was Nepal’s second ODI match against the hosts Netherlands. Nepal had suffered a 55-run target to Netherlands in their first match on Wednesday.

Nepal post 217-run target to Netherlands

Nepal rode on Sompal Kami’s 61runs to post a 217-run target to the hosts Netherlands in Amstelveen on Friday. He hit five boundaries and three sixes off 46 balls.

Nepal opted to bat first after winning the toss and made 216 runs in 48.5 overs losing all the wickets.

Skipper Paras Khadka hit another half century for Nepal. He scored 51 runs with the help of six boundaries and two sixes off 69 balls.

Similarly, opener Subash Khakurel scored 19 off 33 balls hitting three boundaries while Dipendra Singh Aire contributed 19 off 17 balls including three fours.

Likewise, Aarif Sheikh and Gyandendra Malla garnered 16 and 13 runs respectively. Other Nepali batsmen failed to register double digit score.

Fred Klaassen was the pick of the Dutch bowling as he claimed three wickets while Pieter Seelaar and Michael Rippon took two wickets each. Similarly Paul van Meekeren and Shane Snater claimed one wicket each.

This is Nepal’s second ODI match against the hosts Netherlands. Nepal had suffered a 55-run target to Netherlands in their first match on Wednesday.
