Pakistan reached the final of the Asian Games 2026 men’s cricket tournament. They beat Bangladesh by six wickets in a rain-shortened semifinal today. Their scheduled quarterfinal against Hong Kong was previously washed out entirely. Bangladesh also advanced from their quarterfinal against Malaysia without playing a ball. Severe rain delayed the start of the crucial semifinal match today. Officials ultimately reduced the game to just 13 overs per side.

The Pakistani bowlers restricted Bangladesh to 111 for seven during their innings. Sufyan Moqim bowled brilliantly, taking three crucial wickets for his team. Arafat Minhas also performed well, claiming two important wickets during the match. Pakistan needed exactly 112 runs to reach the gold-medal match. The team successfully chased down the target after losing four wickets. Abdul Samad led the aggressive chase with a powerful, unbeaten 30 runs. Hasan Nawaz remained not out on 27 to help complete the victory. The win gave Sahibzada Farhan his first official victory as Pakistan captain.
Guaranteed A Historic Medal
The 30-year-old was appointed captain after establishing himself in the T20 setup. Pakistan will now play for the highly coveted gold medal on October 3. They will face either India or Sri Lanka in the final match. India currently holds the title as the defending tournament champions from 2022. The win guarantees Pakistan their first Asian Games cricket medal since 2010. They missed out during the previous edition after losing to Bangladesh.
