An Air Mediterranean flight landed at the Baghdad International Airport in the early hours on Saturday, making it the first civil aircraft from a European Union country to land here in several years.
Iraqi Minister of Transport Kazem Vajan al-Hamami announced the resumption of flights from Greece in a statement. The landing of Greek airline's flight will greatly help Baghdad to be back in business as far as the aviation sector is concerned.
Though, Middles Eastern airlines, including Qatar Airways, fly to Baghdad, and connect it to destinations in Europe, airlines from the countries in European Union does not operate flights to Baghdad.
