Jogger Shoves A Woman In Front Of An Oncoming Bus

Police are close to identifying the jogger who shoved a woman in front of an oncoming bus thanks to the responses coming in following a public appeal. Officers are tracking various lines of inquiry after the CCTV footage showed the man running into the 33-year-old woman. The bus driver avoided causing serious injuries to the woman after he took evasive action on the bridge in south west London. The Metropolitan Police released a statement which said that they had received lots of calls after appealing to the public for information on the jogger.

A spokesman said that they were still waiting for more people to come forward with any information on the incident. Police reports also said that the driver of the bus stopped immediately and people on board the bus stepped out to help the woman who escaped with a few minor injuries in the incident which took place at around 7:40 AM on 5th May.

Officers also added that the jogger returned down the same path around 15 minutes later and the injured woman tried speaking to him but he didn’t pay attention to her. The attacker is described as a white man who is in his mid-30s with short brown hair and brown eyes. He was clothed in dark blue shorts with a light gray t-shirt.

Sergeant Mat Knowles had earlier said that the jogger had pushed the woman and ran across the bridge but came back on the same route 15 minutes later. The passengers on the bus who were helping the woman had dispersed by the time the jogger returned and when the injured woman tried confronting him he just didn’t seem to acknowledge her. Knowles also added that the jogger is believed to be from the Fulham area and the woman is from Putney. He also said that he wanted to speak with the jogger and determine what really happened that morning and he urged him and people who may recognize him to come forward with information about the jogger.

Go Ahead London, the company which owned the bus released a statement saying that because the bus was only doing 12mph is the reason why the bus driver was able to take evasive action quickly. He also added that it was shocking to see from the CCTV footage that the woman’s entire top half could have gone under the bus’s front tires and the injuries could have been much worse. The CCTV footage obtained is from two buses, the one which avoided the woman and another which was coming in the opposite direction on the 430 route.

Some of the bus driver’s friends requested that their colleague is awarded for his quick reflexes. One of the drivers even added by saying that bus drivers get a bad name but this incident highlights that they are professionals.
