3. Doug Hutchinson And Courtney Stodden
Courtney Stodden made headlines when she married the 51-year-old actor Doug Hutchinson at the young age of 16. There was a 34-year-age gap between the two but they claimed it was love.
In the summer of 2016, Stodden suffered a miscarriage, which she said “deeply” affected her relationship. The two ended up splitting up after almost six years of marriage but are not officially divorced. This is not the first time the controversial couple has broken up. In 2013, the two separated and it was not until May of 2016 that the couple had reconciled and renewed their vows to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary. Stodden has since said that they are taking the breakup “slow” because the situation is “extremely sensitive” and the split is “really hard on him.”
2. Tom Cruise And Cher
Tom Cruise and Cher’s fling in the eighties certainly had people talking. We’re still talking about it to this day! The singer had a brief relationship with the actor, who is 16 years her junior, during the early days of his career. The two dated before Cruise’s first failed marriage to Mimi Rogers.
Cher still refers to the Scientologist as “one of my top five former lovers” and has said she was “crazy for Tom Cruise.” The pair met at the White House during a fundraising event just as Cruise was beginning to gain some notoriety after the success of Risky Business. The singer still said the fling could have been a “great romance” if they had not been so busy with work at the time.
1. Marilyn Manson And Evan Rachel Wood
Evan Rachel Wood became fairly well-known as a child actress in the mid-nineties. When she was 18, she entered a controversial relationship with the singer, Marilyn Manson, who was 34 at the time. The porcelain-skinned, blonde bombshell and the gothic, made-up, punk rock star did not seem like two people who would get together, especially because he was still married to the burlesque star Dita Von Teese at the time. Evan shocked the public when she starred in Manson’s music video for “Heart-Shaped Glasses” and made out with him under a shower of red liquid.
The actress was attacked by critics who called her derogatory names and “gross” for dating the outcast oddball. For Wood, Manson was someone who “promised freedom and expression and no judgments.” She was also attracted to the singer’s androgyny and later came out as bis*xual herself a few years later.
