Glenn Phillips’ Century Powers New Zealand to 87-Run Victory Over India

Phillips Leads New Zealand’s Powerful Batting Performance

New Zealand registered an 87-run victory over India in the fourth T20 International at Eden Park in Auckland on October 30, 2026. Glenn Phillips delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 107 runs from just 49 deliveries to help his team post a massive total of 259 for seven. His innings included 10 sixes and several boundaries, putting pressure on the Indian bowling attack. Michael Bracewell provided excellent support with a quick 65, as the pair built a crucial 115-run partnership. Their aggressive batting gave New Zealand a strong platform to defend.

Bracewell and Phillips Build a Match-Winning Partnership

The New Zealand innings gained momentum through the partnership between Phillips and Bracewell, who added 115 runs in only 41 balls. Bracewell reached his half-century in just 19 deliveries, while Phillips entertained the crowd with powerful shots across the ground. Phillips also struck four consecutive sixes in one over, further increasing the scoring rate. New Zealand finished with 259 runs for seven wickets, recording their first T20 International total above 250 on home soil. The performance gave the hosts a challenging target to defend.

India Struggle During the Run Chase

India's chase began poorly as fast bowler Jacob Duffy dismissed Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan during the opening over. The early setbacks put the visitors under immediate pressure while attempting to chase the demanding target. Abhishek Sharma scored 27 runs, while Naman Dhir contributed 28 and Tilak Varma added 35. However, India struggled to build the partnerships needed to keep up with the required scoring rate. The team eventually finished at 172 for nine in 20 overs, falling well short of New Zealand's total.

New Zealand Secure Their First Win of the Series

The victory provided New Zealand with a much-needed result after losing the first three matches of the five-game T20I series. Despite the defeat, India maintained their 3-1 lead heading into the final match. Phillips' century and Bracewell's quick contribution proved decisive in changing the momentum of the contest. The fifth and final T20 International is scheduled to take place in Hamilton. New Zealand will look to carry their improved performance into the concluding game, while India will aim to finish the series strongly.
