Table salt or common salt is mainly composed of sodium chloride, a chemical substance that is a part of a larger class of salts. Furthermore, sea salt, also known as bay salt or solar salt, is the type of salt formed by the evaporation of sea water.

Using Salt for Hair

Anti-Oily Hair

Oily hair is a reaction of excessively active sebaceous glands on the scalp, which produce too much oil. Fortunately, this annoying issue can be solve by using salt. All you need to do is add 2 or 3 tablespoons in the shampoo you usually use and wash your hair with it. You will notice the results even after the first few treatments. Your hair will be healthy without any excess of oil.

Anti-Dandruff Treatment.

Dandruff is a layer of small pieces of dead skin cells formed on the scalp. Salt has the ability to stimulate the circulation which is very important for a healthy scalp and eliminates the existing dandruff flakes. It also defend the scalp from fungal growth. Just divide your hair into sections, sprinkle 1 or 2 teaspoons of salt on your scalp and massage with wet fingers for around 10 minutes. Then wash as usual.

For Hair Growth

 

Not all people know that sea salt is beneficial for hair growth. If you suffer from alopecia, i.e. hair loss, use sea salt treatment to naturally stimulate hair growth. Simply wash your hair as you normally do. Then, massage your wet scalp with sea salt for 10 – 15 minutes and wash your hair again. Repeat this remedy twice a week for a period of 2 months and the results will surprise you.

Using Salt for Skin.

Facial Toner

You can also use salt as a facial toner which will penetrate into your skin pores deeply and cleanse them. Also, it will control the oil production and fight bacteria which will prevent acne. Make your homemade facial toner by mixing one teaspoon of sea salt with 4 ounces of warm water and pour the mixture in a spray bottle. Spray this mixture once or twice a day to clean and dry skin. Make sure you avoid the eyes.

Softening Body Scrub

Salt is also beneficial for skin care and health. All you need to do in order to have soft and silky skin is to combine coarse sea salt with 2 teaspoons of coconut oil and mix them well. Then, apply this mixture to gently scrub your body in a circular motion which will eliminate all the dead skin cells.  Wash your body with a shower gel once you are done scrubbing.

Balancing Face Mask

For sensitive and easily irritable skin try this mask to soothe your skin and prevent irritations. It will help you keep oil secretion under control and hydrate the areas of dry skin. Mix 2 tbsp. of sea salt and 4 tsp of raw honey, apply it on dry and clean skin, avoid the area around your eyes, and let it act for 10-15 minutes. Finally, rinse it off with warm water.
