Unexpected Everyday Items That Are Bacteria-Laden

Knobs and buttons

House items such as doorknobs, faucet handles, light switches as well as office items like elevator buttons, ATM buttons and other electronic machines have found to be dirty, too. Bathroom faucet handle has 21 times more bacteria than a toilet seat. Ninety seven percent of elevator buttons in most offices and residential buildings are also contaminated with disease-causing germs.

Prevent the spread of dirt by applying hand sanitizer after touching knobs, buttons and light switches. When cleaning your house, include the switches and doorknobs for disinfection. These parts of the home are often ignored and neglected.

Carpet

Carpet has 200,000 bacteria per square inch, making it 4000 times dirtier than your toilet seat.

Prevent dirt by having your carpets and upholstery professionally cleaned twice a year.

Restaurant menus

Most restaurant menus have 100 times more bacteria than a typical toilet seat. Restaurant owners should also include in their training disinfecting their menus to prevent spreading of germs.

Car steering wheel

You can also get those germs in your steering wheel especially if there are other persons who drive your car. In a study, the public toilet is home to 80 bacteria for every square inch and a half. However, the worse is the 700 bacteria breeding on your steering wheel, gear stick and back seat. Spreading of germs is higher when you eat inside your car and leave those litters inside.

Prevent dirt by cleaning the inside parts of the car whenever you have it car washed. Keep wipes on handy and make it a habit to disinfect your steering wheel and other parts before driving.  If you have to eat inside the car, be sure to dispose your leftovers after eating.
