Criminal Proceedings Resume in Los Angeles

The woman who allegedly shot at Rihanna's luxury home will face a jury. A judge ruled Tuesday that Ivanna Ortiz is mentally competent to stand trial. Ortiz faces one count of attempted murder involving the famous "Umbrella" singer. She also faces ten counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. Prosecutors charged her with shooting at an inhabited dwelling and an inhabited vehicle. The charges stem from a terrifying incident that occurred on March 8. A Terrifying Night in Beverly Crest

Rihanna and her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, were inside an Airstream trailer. The trailer sat on their sprawling property in the wealthy Beverly Crest area. Ortiz allegedly opened fire on the property while the couple was inside. Rihanna told police she heard several rounds hitting the metal trailer. She found bullet holes in the windshield directly in front of her. She got A$AP Rocky out of bed and they ducked to the ground. They rushed inside the main property to ensure their children were safe. Police stated the shooter fired approximately 20 rounds during the violent incident.

Facing Life in Prison

Bullets hit the trailer, a patio area, and a nursery room wall. Police arrested Ortiz in a vehicle containing a rifle, ammunition, and a wig. She has pleaded not guilty to all the charges against her. She remains in detention in lieu of $1.875 million bail currently. Ortiz could face life imprisonment without parole if a jury convicts her.
