India's state-run fuel companies raised petrol and diesel prices again today. This marks the fourth consecutive price hike in just ten days. The Middle East war severely strains essential energy supplies to the Indian economy.
Consumers Feel the Economic Strain
Automobile fuel prices jumped roughly five percent since the conflict started. The near-total blockade of the Strait of Hormuz drives these painful consumer costs. India usually sources about half of its crude oil through this vital waterway.
Fuel rates vary slightly across the massive country today. However, companies increased prices broadly by a little over two rupees recently. In New Delhi, petrol prices rose to 102.12 rupees per liter.
Prime Minister Urges Conservation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation regarding this crisis recently. He urged citizens to restrict their daily fuel usage immediately. The government desperately needs to save the foreign currency spent on expensive imports.
