Laying Out Strict Demands
However, Iran insists the host nations must respect strict conditions. Federation president Mehdi Taj outlined ten specific requirements. Iran demands guaranteed visa approvals for all players and staff. They also want enhanced security at airports and stadiums.
FIFA invited Iranian football officials to Switzerland for formal talks. Officials will meet at the Zurich headquarters before May 20.
FIFA Reassures Global Fans
FIFA president Gianni Infantino reassured everyone about Iran's participation. He confirmed the Iranian team will play their matches as scheduled.
Iran will use Tucson, Arizona, as its official home base. The team plays its first match against New Zealand in Los Angeles. The group stage also features matches against Belgium and Egypt.
