300 actor Gerard Butler hospitalised after motorcycle crash

Hollywood actor Gerard Butler has been taken to hospital following a motorcycle accident in Los Angeles. According to TMZ, the 47-year-old actor was riding his bike around the city when he was run off the road and had to be treated for his injuries at the scene, before being taken into hospital by paramedics.

The website also confirmed that the actor has suffered no broken bones, but just cuts and bruises. The 300 star has been a long-time motorcycle enthusiast and was riding a Harley Davidson when the accident took place.

Butler had earlier accepted that he is an adventure junkie. He was seriously injured during a 2011 surfing accident, but refused to quit the sport. “I was going to go back that day,” he said on The Graham Norton Show at the time. “I was actually in the ambulance and wanted to go back, which was a little crazy, but it’s pretty addictive. It was maybe one of the few times that reports were not exaggerated. It was a pretty close call.”

In fact, Gerard is expected to return for promoting his new movie, Geostorm, in the next few days. The film sees Butler star as the architect behind an elaborate natural disaster defence system, which sees a series of climate-controlling satellites surrounding Earth, centered around the International Climate Space Station.

However, a malfunction in the system creates a global storm of epic proportions, and scientists must band together to save the world from utter destruction. The flick is slated to release on October 27 in India.
