Actress Angelu de leon who suffered a Bell's Palsy attack in 2009 had suffered again another Bell's Palsy attack while she was in Boracay last week.
Angelu's supporters got worried after she posted on social media a picture of her wearing a hospital gown with the hashtag #BellsPalsy.
“Nope I'm not in my pantulog. I just entered a big donut for them to see my thoughts with contrast. I'd smile but my face is not moving. Good night everyone! Take care of yourselves. God bless you.”
She was at the hospital to undergo an MRI scan to rule out fears of stroke, which Bell's Palsy is sometimes being mistaken for.
In another post, the actress said she had to sleep with an eye patch on her left eye since her lids "are not properly closing."
“Something might poke it at ikabulag ko pa. I cannot risk it. May bells palsy na bulag pa. Good night guys! Take care and stay healthy please. Don’t be like me. God bless you,” she said.
For those who didn't know what Bell's Palsy is, well, it is a type of facial paralysis resulting from damage in facial nerve that causes muscle weakness on one side of the face. The symptoms include facial droop, one-sided smile, pain around the jaw or in and behind the ear, and an eye that resists closing.
It usually affects people aged 15 to 60. A virus, usually herpes simplex, commonly causes Bell's Palsy. Symptoms improve in a few weeks, and recovery usually takes three to six months.
Angelu is currently undergoing therapy every day to restore her muscle movement.
