Manila Coordinates Immediate Repatriation And Financial Aid

The Philippine government assured the families of two deceased seafarers they will receive immediate assistance. The two Filipino crew members died during a security incident in the Strait of Hormuz. The victims worked aboard the Saudi-operated oil tanker SIDR. The vessel encountered a deadly security incident on August 31 while transiting the dangerous waterway. Saudi Arabia’s national shipping company Bahri officially confirmed the tragic deaths. Authorities are withholding the names of the victims out of respect for their families.

Government Agencies Mobilize Resources

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) immediately mobilized its offices to assist the affected families. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed agencies to ensure the safety of Filipinos in the Middle East. DMW secretary Hans Cacdac ordered officials to provide all necessary assistance. The DMW is currently coordinating with the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Embassy. They are working with the vessel’s manning agency to facilitate rapid repatriation. The government will provide medical and welfare assistance to the surviving crew members. The DMW closely monitors the situation to ensure their safe return home.

Securing Compensation For The Families

Authorities are finalizing arrangements to bring the remains of the two seafarers back to the Philippines. The government promised to support the grieving families through this complex process.
