The dinosaurs in Jurassic World are badass as fuck. Everyone knows this. However, a new snippet from the next film in the franchise goes by a traditional rule of movie sequels: what do audiences like more than something cool? A baby version of something cool.

There's no sign yet of a full-length trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the second film in the Jurassic Park sequel trilogy, which started with Jurassic World in 2015. However, we have now been given a teaser thanks to the film's producer, Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow.

The snippet shows Chris Pratt reprising his part as Owen Grady, a raptor trainer who ended the last film escaping to the mainland with Bryce Dallas Howard's character, Claire Dearing. And in this clip, he's got a little pal.

"From our Jurassic family to yours," Trevorrow tweeted ahead of the US' Thanksgiving holiday tomorrow. The six-second snippet shows Pratt making friends with a new baby raptor which purrs and rubs its head against his hand. You'll have them replacing cats in no time.

It's enough to get us excited for the new sequel, which will be directed by A Monster Calls director J.A. Bayona. Other characters confirmed to return in Fallen Kingdom include Dallas Howard and B.D. Wong.

Excitingly, the film will also feature original franchise star Jeff Goldblum who played the suave Dr Ian Malcolm in the first two Jurassic Park films.

While there has been no clear news about the plot of Fallen Kingdom yet, those involved have been dropping little hints here and there. The first teaser poster came with the tagline: "Life finds a way."

At the Sitges Film Festival in Spain just last month, Trevorrow said that Fallen Kingdom "will be a parable of the treatment animals receive today: the abuse, medical experimentation, pets, having wild animals in zoos like prisons, the use the military has made of them, animals as weapons."

All this implies that Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will have a deeper theme beyond the obvious one of 'reviving carnivorous historical creatures is probably a bad idea'.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom won't be hitting cinemas until 22 June 2018 so we'll just have to wait and see what treats lie in store. Hopefully we'll get at least a few more baby dinosaurs.
