Diver films terrifying EARTHQUAKE on the ocean floor

Diver Jan Paul Rodriguez was on a training course in Mabini Batangas, Philippines, when he managed to film a strong earthquake on the seabed.

As the video shows, the floor of the ocean began rocking back and forth as a 5.6 magnitude tremor struck.

Mr Rodriguez told Newsflare: "The dive was planned for 42 meters and 20 mins bottom time, during our descent we encountered the underwater quake.

"It felt like there was a huge propeller of a big boat turning around directly above us, we heard underwater the trembling of rocks under the ground and we felt the shock wave, it hurt our ears, feeling heavy breathing and sudden changes in pressure.

"The sea bed pumped up and down immediately followed by a strong shaking of the ground and the small rocks falling.”

Immediately after the quake, the team leader abandoned the course, and luckily no one was hurt.

The earthquake is part of a much larger swarm which has rocked Mabini Batangas recently.

Since the beginning of April there have been several earthquakes, the strongest of which being a 6.0 tremor on April 8th.

In addition to this, there have been a total of 934 aftershocks felt in the region.

Buildings, roads, resorts, and houses have all been damaged as a result of the swarm, leaving six people injured and more than 14,000 people have been temporarily relocated as a proportion.7deadly earthquake hotspots

Initial estimates suggest the damage could cost up to £300,000 to repair.
