We’ve heard a number of stories with regard to the heroic act of dogs. These loyal and faithful animals have proven time after time that they are truly man’s best friend – staying with us for so many years. This following story proves once again that you can always trust a good dog to have your back. Back in Aug. 14 of last year, a house in Baltimore, Maryland caught on fire and the news trended.
Erika rushed to her house immediately and tried to save both her baby and the dog, but it was too late as the fire spread quickly all over the house. It was a horrible moment for Erika as she could hear her baby cry. Their neighbors tried breaking both doors and windows to get inside and get the baby out.
Once the firemen arrived, they were soon inside to save Viviana. Surprisingly, the baby survived the horrific ordeal because of the hero dog, Polo who covered her from being completely burned. Nineteen percent of the baby’s body got burned while the poor dog perished protecting the baby. For her part, Erika had burned part of her face and hands when she repeatedly tried to enter the burning house.
Polo sacrificed his life to save the baby and until the end, he stayed loyal to the family. He’s had been with them for the longest time. According to the mother, Polo was very close to the eight-month-old baby.
The firefighters didn’t know where and how the fire started. It’s been over a year since the terrifying incident which changed their lives happened. Up until now, the family’s been trying to recover from the unimaginable fire.
Although nothing could bring their hero dog back, his sacrifices will always be remembered by the people who witnessed his loyalty and bravery. May you rest in peace Polo.
