Your decisions can make or break your life. The college you decide to go to, the job you take up or even the doctor you choose to go to, everything about life is the decision you take. May be that is the reason not many of you are good at decision making. You fear negative repercussions and thus postpone the act of taking decision.
The best hack to make decisions faster is the 'Two-Minute Rule'. Give yourself a deadline of two minutes. This is a simple hack to follow. All you need to do is set a timer and then begin the process. When you have a time limit, it will force you to think of pros and cons quickly and come to a decision. This will help you take decisions quickly and find a way out of it if the decision goes wrong. Unless and until you take a decision, you wouldn't surely know whether it will go right.
A study by Columbia University found that you face some 70 decision making moments a day. So, you are used to decision making and it is usually as difficult as it is made out to be. Thus the whole act of taking only two minutes to make decisions is so simple that it is doable by anyone. If you keep on procrastinating, you will often end up rushing things, becoming more pressured, and as a result, making poor judgements and decisions. This could affect your personal life and not just your professional life.
Sometimes when you keep postponing your decisions, the cumulative effect can be so bad that you will end up deciding when angry, without thinking of the pros and cons. Though two minutes is too less a time, your brain will at least be calm enough to give you clues about the same. While 'laughter is contagious' holds true, it is applicable for other emotions as well. The decision taken on an angry mind can affect not only you, but the people in your life too. You are definitely running the risk of making wrong decisions when you are angry.
