Mother and son reunite after 5 years while performing Hajj

The Hajj pilgrimage is an event where Muslims are able to fulfill one of the five pillars of Islam.

For these people, it was where they would unexpectedly reunite after a long time.

A video shared on social media by the Shehab News Agency shows a Palestinian mother-and-son duo in an emotional reunion after five years of being away from each other:

The mother is one of the relatives of martyrs from Palestine, and was a state guest hosted by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia, to perform Hajj this year.

After a long, emotional hug the mother thanked King Salman, describing being at Makkah for the Hajj a "journey of a lifetime" for her.

It is, indeed, a small world.
