This Is The Philippines' Youngest Programmer, And She Has Her Own Company At Age 10

Here are the things that you would expect a ten-year-old will do: play videogames, study, sleep early and drink her milk, etc.

13-year-old Isabel Sieh, however, built her own company when she was 10-years old.

Isabel is from Antipolo. She learned to code by herself when she was less than a decade old.

“When I was around 10 years old, my teacher noticed that I really love math so he suggested that I start coding. He showed me this website called Code Academy,” Isabel Sieh said.

Inspired by her new-found knowledge, she built her own company, Girls Will Code, at the age of 10.

Girls Will Code is a community of young girls who are interested in coding. Her company is driven by the fact that learning is easier if one is part of a community of like-minded individuals.

Sieh started learning the basics of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and JavaScript through online classes at the age of 10. Mind you, HTML and JavaScript are not like video games. These coding languages require advance memorization and logic skills.

Sieh used Scrach Jr. for her company's coding program. Scratch Jr. is a programming language that was made specifically for young children (ages 5-7). Under Girls Will Code, these young children can learn how to code and make their own applications.

Wow, such an inspiration, this Isabel. We are hoping for your future success.
