This Woman Got Harassed By The Security Guard In Her Office’s Cab. So Much For Safety!

The Multinational Corporation that Preeti (name changed to protect privacy) works at, provides for security guards to escort the female employees who singly return home late. That’s a rather considerate step given the amount of harassment cases we get to come across every day.

Preeti happened to be going home at 1.30 in the night on Saturday, 22nd October 2016. Since there was no security guard as the security supervisor, I Venugopal, told her, he suggested to accompany her himself, reports India Times.

Venugopal hopped onto the back seat and sat beside Preeti instead of sitting on the front seat. He then started touching her inappropriately which made her uncomfortable. Moreover, he denied moving in front when Preeti asked him to.

Weirdly enough, the driver- Srikanth- too refused to stop the car when Preeti protested and suggested that she move to the front seat. Fortunately, Preeti reached home unharmed and reported the incident to her husband, following which they reported it to the Alwal Station Police.

The Alwal police arrested Venugopal and Srikanth and booked them in a case registered under section 354-A of the IPC, the following day.

It’s rather disconcerting to learn of instances wherein the persons whose primary job is to protect others become the cause of danger themselves. Reminiscent of cases wherein doctors fail to serve mankind, isn’t it?
