Al Wakrah Stadium, one of the venues of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, will be officially inaugurated on the sidelines of the final of the Amiri Cup, on May 16.
Al Wakrah Stadium, designed by celebrated Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, has a capacity of 40,000 seats.
Wakrah Stadium to host Amir Cup final
The inauguration of Al Wakrah Stadium will take place ahead of the Amir Cup final on May 16, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) announced on Twitter on Thursday.
It also said that tickets for the opening ceremony and final are now available at http://tickets.qfa.qa. The 40,000-capacity arena will host matches through to the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals and features a "boldly futuristic shape".
Last month, it was reported that grass turf was laid in record time - 9 hours 15 minutes - at Al Wakrah Stadium, the second proposed host venue for Qatar 2022. Khalifa International Stadium in Doha is the first completed Qatar 2022 tournament venue.
