Body found in search for missing expat family

Search and rescue teams have recovered the body of an adult female from a flooded wadi, authorities have confirmed.

A Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance official said they were awaiting positive identification via medical tests to determine whether the remains are those of the wife or mother of Sardar Ahmed Fazal, whose entire family was swept away by flash floods in Wadi Bani Khalid on Saturday.

Sardar has been notified by police and awaits confirmation on whether the body is that of his wife Arshi Khan, or his mother, Shabana Begum.

According to an official spokesperson from the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance: “Blood samples were taken from the body and sent to the forensic laboratory in Muscat for further examination to establish identity."

Sardar’s six family members, including his 28-day-old baby boy, two-year-old boy, four-year-old girl, as well as his wife and parents, were swept away during flash floods in Wadi Bani Khalid on Saturday.
